I’ve Been Accepted…What Now?

As famously quoted from “Stepbrothers.”

Well, the first step is to breathe a huge sigh of relief; I know I was really anxious until I finally got my acceptance letter in the mail! Now, you need to decide if Transy is the right place for you, you don’t have to commit until May 1st so you have a little time to weigh your options.

After you have decided that Transy is the perfect fit for you, you will have to send in your deposit, accept your scholarship and financial aid package, and fill out a bunch of forms. All of this can be found on the Admitted Student page.
The question I am most often asked is, “How do they decide who I will live with next year?” The answer is: randomly; much like Russian Roulette.

You will probably be put with someone who resembles the girl on The Roommate, so train yourself to sleep with one eye open. I’m just kidding, I have a cynical sense of humor.

After you decide to go to Transy, you will fill out a roommate matching form, which you can access at the link above. It will ask you things like: When do you usually go to sleep, How often do you clean your room, What is your expected major, etc. After you complete this, they will try to match you up with someone who would be a good match for you. So, someone who goes to bed at 10:00 pm will probably not get paired with someone who goes to bed around 3:00 am. After Transy works some magic, you will get your roommate information in the mail!

However, there is an alternative to this method of roommate selection.

If you aren’t comfortable with being paired with someone you don’t know, you could always list your preferred roommate. So, if you already know someone who will also be going to Transy, you could choose them as your roommate on your form (you both have to list each other on your forms). If you don’t already know someone who you would like to share a room with, you could meet a future classmate on the Class of 2017 Facebook group. If you find someone you really like and feel comfortable with, you could always ask them if they would be interested in rooming together! I actually met my first roommate through the TU Class of 2015 Facebook page!
